Ja-Ishi (Snake Stones) of Yokokawa

Yokokawa-Keikoku Valley is 18 kilometers in length and rises in Mt. Kyogatake, the northernmost mountain of Central Alps. With its crystal clear water stream, dazzling tender green in spring, and differently colored autumn leaves, this is a spot that makes the visitors feel the breath of the nature throughout the year.

Ja-Ishi (Snake Stones) of Yokokawa – a National Nature Treasure-

Ja-Ishi is an unusual rock formed from layers of slate, intruded by metamorphic rocks. It is called Ja-Ishi (snake stones) because the figure lying at great length in the river bottom, showing its white stripe pattern looks just like a large snake.
